Weaving progress
Nov. 12th, 2009 10:09 amHere is the first rug, about half complete. The finished piece will be 32 x 50 inches, warp-faced, and about 3/8 inch thick. The weft is made of old blue jeans, cut in one inch wide strips that are folded double to put the brighter colored surface outside. These are twisted slightly as they are inserted, so that they pack down in round rolls rather than as flat folds. The color and texture are very appealing to me, and the finished item will be quite practical.
